ABOUT OSHAWA
Oshawa is home to many historic sites, including Parkwood Estate, a designated National Historic Site. It was incorporated as a city in 1924 and is named for an Ojibwa term meaning “stream’s crossing.” Initially a transportation centre because of its spacious harbour and strong road connections along the Grand Trunk Railway, Oshawa quickly transformed into a manufacturing hub.
