ABOUT UXBRIDGE

Uxbridge was first settled in by the Quakers in 1806, who arrived from Pennsylvania. They built the Uxbridge Friends Meeting House in 1820, the oldest building in this community. As of 1954, Uxbridge received a coat of arms from the Canadian Government, and in 1973 Uxbridge Town officially became named a part of Uxbridge Township within the region of Durham.

It’s also home to Leaskdale Manse, the homestead of Anne of Green Gables author Lucy Maud Montgomery, who resided in Uxbridge from 1911-1926.

Uxbridge is connected to Durham Regional Transit via route 905. GO Transit also offers bus service at bus stops on Toronto St. and Highway 47.
