ABOUT WHITBY
Whitby was first known as a transportation hub with a busy harbour and a number of road connections and railway activity. Since then, it has become home to a steel mill and large pharmaceutical company, both of which offer steady employment for the residents of Whitby.
In WWII, Whitby was a close neighbour to Camp X, a radio communications centre developed to train covert agents–it’s said that 500 students were trained here during the war.
