Fun All Year Round in Durham – Durham Region is made up of many local towns, each with their own set of events. See below for a list of events that are going on during 2019.

Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival – April 6 and 7 | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The 24th Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival will be held on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7! As always, there will be many exciting events and activities for the whole family to enjoy!

Mardi BrockApril 27 | 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Hosted by the Downtown Whitby BIA, 740 feet of historical Brock Street will be closed for an epic downtown street festival. Guests will experience the best of shopping, enchantment, free gifts, a signature Mardi Brocktail, buskers, tasty street eats, local libation, and whole lot of dancing. DJ’s Manzone & Strong will be rocking the party, and there will be a “legends” tribute to top off the night. This 19+ event promises to be full of unexpected surprises!

Durham Mountain Biking Demo Festival – May 25 | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This event offers Mountain bike riders the opportunity to test ride a variety of Mountain bikes provided by local bike stores and manufacturers. Participants will test ride bikes on three different loops; family/beginner loop, an intermediate and an advanced loop. Food trucks will be set up in the area as well as a bike park for the kids to try out. Helmets are mandatory and test riders may want to bring their own pedals.

The 49th Annual Tour of Homes – June 1 | 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Trinity United Church women present their 49th Annual Tour of Homes. Come enjoy beautiful homes and a gorgeous day enjoying the Uxbridge countryside.

Fore the Future Charity Golf Classic – June 13 | 1:30 p.m.
The 14th annual “Fore the Future” Charity Golf Classic will be held at the esteemed Royal Ashburn Golf and Country Club in Whitby, Ontario. Proceeds raised from “Fore the Future” will be directed toward the Foundation’s programs supporting children and youth in care throughout Durham Region. Over its 14-year history, the tournament has provided not only post-secondary scholarships and bursaries, but funding for a range of initiatives including; summer camp, recreational and sporting activities, and holiday season gifts and events for the children and families served by the Durham Children’s Aid Society.

Canada Day Celebration at Ajax Downs Racetrack – July 1 | 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
See live Quarter horse racing from 1pm- 3pm. Family fun and live racing all afternoon! Infield opens at 6pm for live entertainment and fireworks at 9pm

Oshawa Wine Tasting Festival – July 11 | 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
This fun and popular wine tasting event features many Ontario and Canadian wines.  Attendees have the opportunity to “try and buy” selections often only available at the winery itself. Event limited to age 19 and older.

17th Annual Dog Days of Scugog – July 20 & 21 | 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Welcome to the annual Dog Days of Scugog, Durham’s largest dog event, taking place at the Scugog Shores Museum Village (16210 Island Road, Port Perry). It will be a fun, family friendly two-days of everything you and your canine companion could want. Enter a contest, participate in an agility course, talk to breeders and animal rescue agencies, or buy one of hundreds of amazing products from our vendors.

Craft Brewery Day – July 21 | 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Join us on July 21st for our Fourth Annual Craft Brewery Day! Discover local breweries while enjoying the thrill of live quarter horse racing and live music!

Bikes on Bond – August 10 | 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Downtown BIA proudly presents “Bikes on Bond” which takes place on Saturday, 10 August. Turning into one of the largest motorcycle events in the province, motorcycle riders come together in Oshawa and spend the day downtown displaying their bikes and interacting with the crowds. This show offers: Live entertainment, vendors, dealers and the ever-popular Show and Shine. This free event is entering its 8th year and promises to be bigger than ever in 2019

Day Out With Thomas – August 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18| 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Peep Peep!  All aboard for a day of family fun with Thomas the Tank Engine! Thomas will be chugging into the GTA for the Steam Team Tour for two weekends only. Take a 25-minute train ride on-board the heritage train pulled by Thomas and meet Sir Topham Hatt!

There are lots of activities for the kids including temporary tattoos, face painting, hay maze, kiddy train ride, Zoo to You, obstacle course and Thomas replica ride-on trains.  Check out the interactive entertainment stage with shows by a juggler, magician and musicians. Enjoy Thomas storytelling and videos on-board an actual train car.

Cost $25.00 + HST per person. Tickets go on sale April 1!

Kars on King – August 23 | 3:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Kars on King is back! Held on Friday 23 August, this classic event is a great way to start a weekend full of beautiful cars. Free to the public, come downtown to see hundreds of classic cars from across North America. No Registration Required. Open to all makes 1987 and older. Enjoy exciting live entertainment and don’t forget to check out the corresponding “Touch-a-Truck” family event at the Tribute Communities Centre. There is something for everyone, so mark your calendar now!

Children’s Old-Fashioned Christmas – December 8 | 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The Scugog Shores Museum Village will be holding the Children’s Old-Fashioned Christmas on Sunday, December 8 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Step back in time and tour through the historic village, traditionally decorated for the holidays with evergreen boughs, bright ribbons and berries. Children will be engaged in activities throughout the village.

Visit with Santa Claus and his elf in the Pioneer Church, bake and decorate cookies in the Log Cabin, create unique ornaments to hang on your tree, decorate traditional Victorian Christmas Cards, visit with the blacksmith and print shop and explore the Museum Village on a holiday scavenger hunt.  Hot chocolate and apple cider will be served in throughout the day in the church.
